This is a hybrid role based in Pearl River, New York.

Package Development & Technical Aptitude 

  • Execute packaging development for new product launches.  This involves identifying, developing, and implementing solutions for primary and secondary packaging, from early inception through qualification at contract manufacturers.
  • Must demonstrate competency in the interpretation, review, and approval of technical drawings and understand the dimensional tolerances to stack-up various component types.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of materials used in the construction and manufacturing of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging including but not limited to: Injection molding, Extrusion molding, Metal forming, Glass forming, Vacuum forming, Assembly of components, Dispensing systems (Pump, Airless) and Folding carton design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of decorating techniques and materials used on primary and secondary packaging.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of test methods necessary to validate package functionality
  • Develop and implement package test plans and coordinate all necessary testing to validate success criteria, including line trial at filling/manufacturing facilities. 
  • Expertise working with contract manufacturers to qualify new packaging on production lines.
  • Attend line trials to ensure components and finished goods are the correct quality expectations.
  • Work with marketing and suppliers to define specifications, design criteria and defect ranges to ensure optimal process flow from manufacture of components through filling and assembly of final finished goods. 
  • Develop detailed package development timelines including all package development tasks and manage them.
  • Track packaging tasks against critical path milestones and communicate updates to cross-functional partners.
  • Identify and inform New Product Development team with any risks or ways to mitigate risks to ensure the successful launch of new products.  
  • High degree of collaborative skills to partner with cross functional teams, internal (Marketing, R&D Formulation, Product Development, Operations, Regulatory and as well external suppliers. 


Qualifications – about you 

  • 5+ years of experience in Package Engineering and Development.  
  • Strong experience in beauty, haircare, skincare, or personal care consumer packaged goods industry with an emphasis on Development and Engineering of primary and secondary packaging (hair and skincare preferred). 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Science. Master’s degree, highly desired.
