L'OCCITANE EN PROVENCE, founded in 1976 in the Provence region of France, has been a fixture in nearly every French home for over a decade. Now, we have begun to bring our line of cosmetics, skin and hair care products and fragrances to the United States. Our products, based on essential oils and natural ingredients, and our boutiques with their warm and welcoming colors, are the essence of the region of Provence. We are in the midst of a rapid expansion that will place our unique, charming and elegant boutiques in better shopping areas nationwide. L'Occitane stands true to its long-standing commitment to both humanitarian aid and its fight to protect the natural environment. It is full of life and creativity with the ultimate goal to preserve the memory of its traditions.

L’OCCITANE is a unique brand focusing on the well-being of women and men alike. It seeks to create harmony which links the pleasure of the senses with inner balance. The products range from personal care lines to home fragrances. All are manufactured in the time-honored traditional way using fine natural ingredients, primarily from Provence.

The company was founded by Olivier Baussan in the south of France in 1976. The first shop and mail order service was opened in Volx, France, in 1980. The current factory in Manosque was established in response to an ever-growing distribution network. In the mid to late 1990s; subsidiaries were opened in the U.S., Hong Kong and the U.K.

Today, L’OCCITANE employs some 1200 people. In addition to mail order sales, there are some 500 L’OCCITANE stores in nearly 60 countries. All products and stores reflect the company's core values of authenticity, simplicity, sensory pleasure and respect for people and the planet. From simple, natural ingredients, L’OCCITANE creates products that serve the ultimate goal of well-being in ourselves and in our homes. The fragrances are varied, unusual, natural and wonderfully appealing.

For over 25 years, L’OCCITANE has been creating the highest quality body care, skincare and fragrance products using natural ingredients. In an effort to respect the environment, L’OCCITANE rigorously selects its ingredients from local, well-respected growers. The use of natural, traceable ingredients is at the core of L’OCCITANE product development.
L’OCCITANE products are never tested on animals.
No animal product or by-product is used in the manufacture of L’OCCITANE products (with the exception of honey).
Most L’OCCITANE packaging includes Braille labeling.
In accordance with its ongoing commitment to human rights, L’OCCITANE guarantees that none of its products are manufactured using child labor.
L’OCCITANE supports traditional production methods. By giving priority to local suppliers, L’OCCITANE supports local employment and certifies quality standards.
L’OCCITANE shopping bags are made from recycled algae, removed by L’OCCITANE from the Venetian canals under a program to combat pollution.
The use of A.O.C. (Appellation of Controlled Origin) ingredients guarantees that L’OCCITANE products are made of the highest quality ingredients from Haute Provence. Currently, A.O.C. Lavender and A.O.C. Olive Oil are used in L’OCCITANE Harvest products.
